Home automation access control from anywhere in the world

This summer I have been enjoying a little vacation in the Mediterranean, more specifically in Italy. But I don’t write this post to make you jealous… but to share with all of you how I used the automation to control the access to my home from another country just by being connected to the Internet and having my tablet (or smartphone).

The situation: I’m in another country and someone is bringing a shipment. Solution? To let a warning? Go back another day? NO. Something much more simple: allow access through the home automation. My home is what we might call a Digital Home with Z-Wave technology for the control. Once I receive the call from the dealer, I connect remotely and what I see through the surveillance camera in real time is the following:

Open door with Z-Wave access control
What I have seen in my tablet is actually that the dealer is at the door and wants to enter. I connect to my home automation network and allow access by opening the gate. At every moment I control through camera the movements to make sure that he delivers the package. Once delivery is done, the dealer can go out, continue his route and what I have to do is close the gate again.

Close door with Z-Wave access control
As you can see, is an extremely simple way to have a complete tracking access control to our homes without us having to be there. In fact, we can be anywhere in the world. All you need is a home automation technology as Z-Wave, an Internet connection and a smartphone or tablet.
